Lights and Ropes

A shot I took during the load-in for a workshop reading of Eve Ensler’s new play. The concept for the set was a freegan-esque loft space, beautifully provided by Emily Macdonald. Lighting design by yours truly, and the space has a couple dozen of these simple bulbs. Hoping the design is a good example of less can be more.

(not so) Virtual Worlds

This is a rough model for a class in grad school. The class deals with building virtual worlds (a la a videogame) that a virtual camera can be manipulated within and provide actors / stages with real time changes and movement. This project involved a physical model that a webcam linked to a projector will be display in varying “cues.”

The model takes it’s inspiration from the city of Adelma, from Invisible Cities, by Italio Calvino.

It was interesting to work on, because unlike a traditional scenic model for the stage, the model’s sole purpose was to facilitate the creation of these static looks and cues.

Lonely Pencil

Took this photo whilst messing around with my camera in the design studio. Thanks to Yuki for letting me take the photo and giving me a minimal amount of weird looks.

Poor guy really hates AutoCAD. One empathizes.
